Maurice Lacroix is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1975. The brand's roots go back much further in time; to be exact, the brand started producing watches for third parties in 1889 under the name Desco von Schulthess. Around the 1980s, Maurice Lacroix became so popular that they stopped the third-party manufacturing and started fully focusing on their own brand. From this point on, Maurice Lacroix continued to grow, mainly due to their popular designs and high quality standards. In 2001, Maurice Lacroix became an independent watchmaker with their own manufacturing facilities, and in 2006 they introduced their first in-house timepiece, the ML106 hand-wound chronograph. From then on, Maurice Lacroix has had much success with Haute Horlogerie watches such as the Maurice Lacroix Retrograde Masterpiece and reissues such as the Maurice Lacroix Aikon.

Watch Service
Maintenance of Automatic and Hand-wound Movements
A watch equipped with a Automatic or hand-wound movement operates without any form of electricity. These mechanisms consist of numerous moving parts, each carefully lubricated with specialized oils to ensure smooth operation and rotation. When properly maintained, such movements can last for decades.
As a general guideline, it is recommended to service a Automatic or hand-wound watch every three to four years after the purchase date. At ORDILU, we can perform this maintenance through the manufacturer or in our own watchmaking department. However, the servicing interval may vary depending on the type of movement and how frequently the watch is worn. If you notice irregularities in the watch’s performance beyond normal deviation, it is advisable to have the watch checked at the manufacturer or ORDILU.
Maintenance of Quartz Movements
Quartz watches are powered by a battery, which typically requires replacement every few years. It is best to have this done by the brand itself or an authorized dealer such as ORDILU. The frequency of battery replacement depends on the type of movement and the usage of additional functionalities like the chronograph.
While quartz watches require less frequent servicing compared to Automatic and hand-wound watches, they also contain lubricants in their internal components. It is recommended to service a quartz watch every six to seven years, depending on its usage and the extent to which features like the chronograph are utilized.
Maintenance of Quartz Solar Movements
Solar watches are powered by rechargeable batteries (accumulators) that are charged using solar energy. These accumulators typically last between 7 and 12 years, although the lifespan may vary depending on the brand and usage of the watch. Similar to quartz watches, solar watches should ideally be serviced every six to seven years, with the actual interval depending on how frequently the watch and its functions, such as the chronograph, are used.
Water Resistance Maintenance
Watches are designed with varying levels of water resistance, usually ranging from 3 ATM to 100 ATM. Water resistance is achieved through the use of rubber gaskets, which may dry out over time, reducing their effectiveness. To ensure your watch remains water-resistant, it is recommended to have its water resistance tested annually.
At ORDILU, our specialized watchmakers use professional leak testing equipment to verify the water resistance of your watch. If the gaskets or other components are found to be compromised, we will offer to replace them and restore the watch to its original water resistance rating.
*Never use the crown to adjust the time or date, or press any pushers, while the watch is in direct contact with water.*
*Always ensure that the crown is securely closed, particularly if it is a screw-down crown. Likewise, any screw-down pushers should remain securely closed during use.*
